American School, late 19th century oil on canvas painting of three Pug dog puppies. Visible image is 19.5" w x 15.5" h; framed dimensions are 16" h x 20" w. Unsigned. Doyle's Auction Gallery, NY dates this as circa late 1800's. Patent pending dates on iron frame hardware and ink inscription on reverse state dates of 1886 (see details). Mounted within its original period, gilt, hand carved wood frame. All gilding still intact, no touch up or restoration. Frame made by the Swanton Furniture Co. in Swanton, Vermont.

Condition: Some brown spotting. Tiny hole lower right canvas by edge of frame. Otherwise no condition issues, tears or flaking. Some minor rippling in the canvas, lower left.
